About the Treatment
Each year, the rate of skin cancer
grows, due to harmful UV exposure. According to WebMD, about 50,000
new cases of melanoma skin cancer are diagnosed in the United States
yearly as well. It is a wonder that people continue to bake
themselves in the sun.
Luckily, there are alternatives to
laying out in the sun, for those who want a nice tan. Here at
Coastal Skin Center, we offer spray on tan solutions. We use a quick
and precise technique for sunless tanning. Best of all, it is
completely safe for you and your skin.
Self tanners have been an option
for sunless tanning for a while now but they can be difficult to
apply. Results can be orange and streaky and some products leave a
lingering scent. The best way to get a natural looking, safe tan, is
by visiting our specialists for a professional spray on tan
treatment.
The treatment is delivered through
an airbrush by a trained technician. One application takes about 15
minutes and it dries almost immediately. The bronzing benefits will
develop over six to eight hours and the tan will last for a minimum
of seven days. Clients are thrilled with how natural the tan looks
and they don't have to worry about damaging their skin.

Frequently Asked Question
What is a MOON Tan™?
This is how it works: a solution
custom blended for each client is sprayed on the body with an
airbrush. The solution’s active ingredient is dihydroxyacetone (DHA),
which has been approved by the Food and Drug Administration for over
30 years.
DHA is an all-natural derivative of
sugar, which reacts to the amino acids in skin just like the sun.
Why is a spray tan better than a tanning bed?
Airbrush tanning offers a
natural-looking tan, the women said. There is no chance of
orange-colored skin, discolored knees, elbows, hands or nails or the
uneven skin tones that can result from self-tanners.
- Even streakless, dripless and
odorless coverage applied by a professional
- NO Orange! Customized
intensity designed by trained technician.
- Quick and healthful tanning,
as opposed to dozens of daily tanning bed visits
- Comparably priced to bed and
booth tanning, and does not require costly accelerator or skin
treatment lotions
- Protects against harmful UV
rays, skin aging and premature wrinkles
- Monitored by trained
professional
How long does it take?
The process takes 10 to 15 minutes,
but your tan will develop within five to eight hours. However,
clients still walk out glowing as the solution has a bronze color to
give temporary color while the tan is developing.
Two sessions a few days apart are
recommended to build a base tan, after which weekly visits are
recommended.
Is there anything I need to know before coming
in for my tan?
There is no going commando during
treatments. Clients must at least wear a thong.
Exfoliate before the visit and
shave and have any waxing done beforehand. Don’t wear lotion or
foundation to the session as they will act as a barrier and keep the
formula from developing.
